2025 VEX Robotics World Championship and AP, IB, and AICE Testing

With the recent announcement of the dates for the 2025 VEX Robotics World Championship, it's evident that they will overlap with AP, IB, and AICE testing schedules. While we at VEX Robotics and the REC Foundation would prefer to avoid this overlap, it unfortunately cannot be avoided this season.

The 2025 AP Exams will be administered in schools over two weeks in May: May 5–9, and May 12–16. Early testing or testing at times other than those published by the College Board is not permitted under any circumstances. Late testing dates, identified in the official late-testing schedule, are available if students cannot test during the first two weeks of May. For late testing, alternate exams must be ordered through AP Registration and Ordering by the school's testing coordinator. Importantly, participating in the 2025 VEX Robotics Competition World Championship will not incur an additional late-testing fee, as it is considered an academic contest/event.

If students on your team are part of an IB program, some IB tests are scheduled during the 2025 VEX Robotics Competition World Championship. IB does not offer make-up dates, but students can arrange to take their tests at an alternate IB testing location on the standard test day and time. Your school’s IB Guidance Counselor should contact IB by the middle of March 2025 to request an alternate testing location. The REC Foundation is in communication with our educational partners to potentially secure a suitable school for IB testing during the event. Testing at this location may involve a proctoring fee. For more information, please contact support@recf.org with "IB testing alternate location" in the subject line.

AICE testing also coincides with some days of the 2025 VEX Robotics World Championship in Dallas. AICE tests will offer make-up dates in the fall, which your guidance counselor can provide. As long as your testing falls within the required timeframe to earn your AICE Diploma, you can opt to take the test in the fall. Please verify your specific details with the AICE guidance counselor at your school.
